Our Story

A tale of wine, vinves and friendship.

Mike and Jason’s journey didn’t start as business partners—it began as a chance connection between a customer and a provider. Their careers brought them together, their friendship grew, and with time, they discovered a mutual passion that led them to where they are today: co-owners of a winery in the heart of Santa Rosa.

In 2017, Mike took a leap of faith, purchasing a beautiful property with a four-acre Merlot vineyard. Fueled by his love for viticulture, he returned to school at Washington State University to master the art and science of grape growing. By 2019, he was ready to harvest his first crop and craft wine for his family—aging it simply in neutral oak to let the true character of the fruit shine.

Then came the moment that changed everything. Jason, a longtime Merlot enthusiast, took his first sip of Mike’s 2019 vintage and was floored. “This is incredible,” he exclaimed, stunned by its texture, complexity, and elegance—unlike anything he had experienced from a typical Sonoma Merlot. That single glass sparked a conversation, one that led to a shared vision: to bring a fresh new "old world" style to the California wine scene.

Together, they traveled the world, immersing themselves in legendary wine regions, studying the traditions and techniques of iconic producers. Their love for Pomerol and right-bank wines shaped their vision for the vineyard.

For us, it’s all about letting the terroir of Abbadessa Vineyard sing. Beginning in 2025, they plan to expand the vineyard, planting Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, with the goal of being 100% estate-grown by 2028. Our philosophy is simple: to craft wines that express the land they come from, showcasing the very best of Fountaingrove District AVA and Sonoma, CA.

In 2025, we’ll offer a sneak peek of what’s to come, with a full release planned for 2026. We can’t wait to share this journey with you. Sign up for updates and follow along as we bring our vision to life.
